Focal Point Dominate Again

Focal Point Photography have swept the board again at the North East MPA Photography Awards, David dominated the awards this year winning eight awards whilst Paul took four.
David took NE MPA Portrait Photographer of the Year and Paul NE MPA Wedding Photographer of the year.
David was also named MPA North East Photographer of the Year for the second time, he is the only person to have done this.

These awards cement Focal Point Photography at the very top of the tree when it comes to quality photography.

Paul is a finalist in two catergories at the British Photographic awards 2008, he is now in with a chance of picking up an Oskar at the biggest Photographic awards ceremony in the UK.

Focal Point Dominate Awards Ceremony

Focal Point Photography studio swept the board at this years regional Master Photographers Association Awards ceremony which was held at the Hilton Hotel in Gateshead. Professional photographers Paul Maddison and David Armour have walked away with an unprecedented eight photographic awards.

Paul won three awards in the wedding categories including Best Overall Wedding Album for the second year in succession and scooped three awards for Portraiture, including Classical Portrait Photographer of the year, Under 5s Portrait Photographer of the year and Family Photographer of the year. Paul was also awarded the coveted top prize of Master Photographer of the year after beating off stiff competition from hundreds of entries from North East based photographic studios. David was awarded Classical Wedding Photographer of the year.

Paul and David have previously won several esteemed awards both regionally and nationally and this recent success puts this dynamic Sunderland based photographic team at the top in the region.

Finalist in National Kodak Awards again and again

Paul has picked up two awards in this years Kodak awards and is now in with a chance of being named Kodak Wedding Photographer of the Year and Kodak Portrait Photographer of theYear for the second year in succession.

Photographer Paul Maddison Wins Another National Award

Sunderland based photographer Paul Maddison has been awarded a top prize for his work, winning the David Mathias UK Portrait Photographer of the Year award at the recent British Professional Photography Awards.

Paul also took the coveted prize of North East Regional Winner in the Mario Acerboni sponsored wedding award for three outstanding images taken during one wedding. Hundreds of professional photographers from around the world were joined by representatives from the major photographic companies at the glittering awards ceremony held recently at the Hilton Hotel in Newcastle.

The Awards are a joint initiative between the Master Photographers Association and the British Institute of Professional Photographers. Membership of the associations is restricted to full time professional photographers who must qualify to the minimum required Licentiateship standard. Both organisations exist to promote and maintain standards of excellence and professionalism within the photographic industry.

Paul is now the only professional photographer in the North East to hold two national awards following his success over the past three years of international competition. Earlier this year Paul won Master Photographer of the Year in the North East Regional Awards, where together with David Armour, the studio won an unprecedented eight awards including Fuji sponsored Best Overall Wedding.

Chairman of the judging panel, Simon John FBIPP FMPA was delighted with this year's entries: "There was a great diversity of imagery, and all were judged on the same criteria - artistic merit, good use of lighting, composition and print quality - all the winners were of a very high overall standard. Winning a BPP Award is a huge honour for any photographer and I hope each winner uses their award to help further their careers."
