Wedding Receptions
It is said that there is no finer venue in the North East for weddings than the Great Hall and Senate Rooms of Durham Castle.
The Great Hall at the Castle is one of the largest and most impressive of its kind in the country. Dating back to 1284 it is 45 feet high and over 100 feet long and can comfortably accommodate 80 to 200 guests.
You can start the day with a drinks reception in the Courtyard (weather permitting) or along the 16th Century Tunstal Gallery. Enjoy a magnificent banquet in either the Great Hall; or for smaller occasions the Senate Suite. This room has a magnificent 17th Century overmantel and 17th Century Flemish tapestries. The room will accommodate 20 to 50 seated guests and approximately 70 to 80 guests for a buffet function.
Part of the package at Durham Castle includes use of the spectacular Bishop's Suite, which is situated in a part of the Castle built in the 13th century. The Bishop's Suite
